Each Sunday diocesan readers lead worship and preach at Services across Meath and Kildare. It is a vital ministry that is greatly valued by all of us. The dioceses wanted to mark and celebrate this ministry, recognising the time, energy and commitment that it represents.

On Sunday 10th November, at 5.00 pm in All Saints’ Church, Mullingar, Bishop Pat celebrated Communion at a special occasion to mark the 40th anniversary of those commissioned 40 years ago for lay ministry in the Diocese, and commissioned since then. At this service Bishop Pat also commissioned Yvonne Hutchinson as a lay-reader.

Following the service there was a celebratory meal in the Greville Arms Hotel. It was a memorable occasion, and a way of saying thank you to all who exercise this ministry.
